Department of Statistics
Your SAS license must be renewed annually. You can call the computing center at 515-HELP or send e-mail to help@ncsu.edu to get the setinit information. Remember to specify what version of SAS you have ( i.e. SAS 6.12, SAS Version 7). They will either send you the setinit by e-mail or give you the logonid and password to login to chaos.cc.ncsu.edu so you can ftp the appropriate file. If you are a member of the Statistics department, you may send e-mail to Sandy Donaghy or Joy Smith and they will send you the appropriate file. Remember to specify the version of SAS you have on your computer.
Once you have the appropriate program for your platform and version of
SAS you can apply the setinit as follows:
1. Invoke SAS
2. Include the program in the program editor window and submit it
To verify that the setinit was correctly applied, you can inspect
the log or type setinit on the command line. The expiration date should
be Dec 31 of the current year.
If your SAS license has already expired you can apply the setinit as
follows:
1. From the START button, select RUN
2. In the run box, specify the location and the name of the
sas.exe file, the -sysin option, the location and name
of the setinit file, the -setinit option, and the -noautoexec
option.
For example: c:\sas\sas.exe -sysin c:\setinit.sas -setinit -noautoexc
This allows the SAS system to apply the setinit even though the license has expired. If the setinit was successful, you will now be able to start SAS. If this process was not successful, see the SETINIT.LOG file for a list of errors.
