We will be holding our SIBS program again in the summer of 2014!
We will begin accepting applications for Summer 2014 in December 2013.
Biostatistics is the exciting field that applies statistics to medical and public health research. Biostatisticians work closely with experts from other fields in research teams. Together they seek to answer serious and important questions that affect human health and well being.
The demand for biostatisticians TODAY is greater than ever before, and it is expected to continue to INCREASE in the future.
The Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics (SIBS), sponsored by the National Heart, Lung,
and Blood Institute (NHLBI)
and the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), is a
6-week program to give undergraduate students majoring in or with background in the quantitative sciences the opportunity to
explore a career in biostatistics.

Our program has been offered every year since the Summer of 2004. Each year the program was a great success, with over 65% of eligible participants going on to graduate school in the field!
Our 2013 program is being held right now, June 9 - July 19, 2013. We will host our program again in 2014 (dates TBA). Undergraduate students (including students who will have graduated in Spring 2013) and beginning graduate students who are US citizens or US Permanent Residents are eligible (this is a NHLBI requirement).
