Required Course Work
In addition to the core courses, the following courses are required.
- 3 hours of Restricted Statistics electives -- one course from the following list:

- 9 hours of Statistical Genetics Electives chosen from the following list:

- ST 590A: Introduction to Bioinformatics
- ST 590C: Bioinformatics II
- GN 703: Population and Quantitative Genetics
- ST/GN 756: Computational Molecular Evolution
- ST/GN 757: Statistical Methods of Mapping Quantitative Trait Loci
- 3 hours of Statistics electives. Suggested electives are
- ST 520: Stat. Principles of Clinical Trials and Epidemiology
- ST 708: Applied Least Squares
- ST 740: Bayesian Inference and Analysis
- ST 744: Categorical Data Analysis
- ST 746: Introduction to Stochastic Processes
- ST 758: Computation for Statistical Research
- 6 hours of Supporting Electives. Suggested electives are:

Additional Notes on Course Work
Most statistical genetics elective courses rely on the material covered in GN 311 (Principles of Genetics) or a comparable course from another university as a prerequisite. Note that GN 311 will not count for graduate credit.
Students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. in a field related to biology are strongly encouraged to enroll in Molecular Genetics (GN 701).
