Required Course Work
The course work requirements for a Master of Science degree are the same as those for the Master of Statistics degree, except that six credit hours of research (ST 695) are required in place of six credit hours of electives. As a part of ST 695, the student must write a thesis. The thesis should describe an original methodological or theoretical development in statistics or the application of existing methodology to an unusual problem, and be of a standard that would warrant publication in a scientific journal. It must be approved by all members of the student’s graduate advisory committee and the Graduate School. The course work requirements for a Master of Science with any of the concentrations is the same as those for master’s degrees with the corresponding concentrations, except that six credit hours of research (ST 695) are required in place of six credit hours of electives.
