Getting started

This handbook is intended to provide up-to-date information regarding the course work, schedule of required documents, financial aid, and faculty. Changes are sometimes made in the graduate programs and these changes are announced through the departmental communication channels. The handbook is also posted on the department’s web site (www.stat.ncsu.edu). In addition to reading this document, all graduate students should refer to the Graduate Catalog (http://ww2.acs.ncsu.edu/grad) which contains the official policy of the university and the Graduate School. Any conflict in policy between this document and the Graduate School Catalog will be resolved in favor of the latter. The Department of Statistics offers programs of study leading to various degrees in statistics. The degrees include: • Master of Statistics • Master of Statistics with concentration in o Biomedical Statistics o Environmental Statistics o Mathematical Statistics o Statistical Genetics • Master of Science • Master of Statistics-Co-Major • Doctor of Philosophy • Doctor of Philosophy-Co-Major. Degree programs in Bioinformatics and Biomathematics also exist. Contact Dr. Zhao-Bang Zeng (zeng@stat.ncsu.edu) for further information regarding the programs in Bioinformatics. Students interested in our Biomathematics graduate program, should contact Dr. Alun Lloyd (alun_lloyd@ncsu.edu).
