A student pursuing the Ph.D. co-major program must satisfy the requirements of both departments. In the past, co-major degrees at the Ph.D. level were awarded jointly with Biomathematics, Crop Science, Economics and Operations Research. The dissertation must embody the results of original research of a standard that would warrant publication in a research journal from one or both of the two fields.

Graduate Advisory Committee

The student’s advisory committee must include at least two members from the Department of Statistics, one of which will serve as co-chair. The co-chair must have FULL status in the Department of Statistics.

Examinations

Ph.D. Co-Major students are required to pass the Basic Exam at the PhD level, the Preliminary Oral Exam and the Final Oral Exam. Co-Major students are not required to complete the Preliminary Written Exam.
