Using Enterpriese Miner in SICL < > indicates clickable link or fill-in window (1) Create folder ST610G on desktop Right click on desktop background-->New-->Folder (2) From course web page, select the link "data in folder" Right click on data.zip "Save link as" --> ST601G (on desktop) Go to ST610G/data subfolder on desktop Select (at top) "Extract all Files" then click in popup window (may have to do this twice) (ignore space message if you see it) You now have extracted the course data (should have 53 files) onto your desktop. We will also store the Enterprise Miner folders there so that you can transfer everyting to a USB for use on other machines (having EM) if so desired. (3) Start Enterprise Miner from lower left "start" icon circle on desktop: Start --> SAS --> Enterprise Miner Workstation wait 30 seconds or so for EM to come up select New Project --> < browse to desktop ST610G folder > Cancel "firewall disallow ...." popup any time you see it ** Continue to click in this wizard then You now have an Enterprise Miner project with its output files to be stored in your desktop ST610G folder. The next time you open EM, it will automatically point to this location to continue your project. (4) Your project should be open in EM. We need to show EM where our data library is. Method 1: In the lefthand "properties panel" you will see "Project Start Code ..." Click on the ellipsis (...) and a SAS editor window opens Type libname AAEM " (text) " where text is the path to your St601G/data desktop folder. To get this text, double click your ST610G desktop folder. When it opens, go to the pathname in the top window. Position your cursor in the pathname window in the blank space a bit to the right of the pathname and click. The full path name will now appear and will be marked so copy and paste it as the (text) above. Method 2: From the top menu bar select file -->new-->library then fill in the windows following the naming conventions in method 1. From here on we follow the book.
